“We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence… We need silence to be able to touch souls.” ~ Mother Teresa

Spring is so close I can almost taste it.  Yesterday we put up the butterfly chimes to welcome it.  I can’t wait to watch nature come to life again.  When the world is new and alive and we can see the hand of God in every flower, in every blade of grace and in the sun shining down on our uplifted faces.

In my last post I spoke about gratitude and all the things we take for granted that are daily miracles in our lives.  I’m attaching this letter, written anonymously, to remind us to stop and acknowledge the little things and the moments when the universe whispers her undying devotion in our often deaf ears.  I hope you love it as much as I do and stop to be still today and feel the love that is being poured out on your behalf.

A Letter to A Friend

“I saw you talking with some friends yesterday, and I so wanted to talk to you also.  I waited all day, but you never called; I hoped we could find time to talk in the evening, but I know you had a lot of other things on your mind.  As your day drew to a close, I sent a cool breeze to make you refreshed after a long day.  I put a special scent in the air from the flowers-near the driveway, but I guess you didn’t notice as you hurried by.  I’m sad to see you rush so.
I saw you fall asleep last night, and I wanted to touch your face or stroke your hair, so I spilled moonlight on your pillow.  When you awoke this morning, I hoped we would have time together – I want so much to rush down and talk to you, but I guess you had to “hurry” off to work.
I have so many gifts for you, so much to tell you, so many wonderful things for you to experience because I love you so much.  My nature is like that you know.
Please call me, talk with me, ask me for help.  I know the deepest desire of your heart and I want to be close to you.  My love for you is deeper than the oceans – greater than anything you can imagine – I long for us to share some time together – just the two of us.
It hurts me to see you sad today.  I really understand what it’s like for friends to let you down.  I know how your heart aches.
I’ll close now because I know you are busy, and I certainly don’t want to hassle you.  You are free to choose me – “my way or not” – it’s your decision.  I’ve already chosen you.  Please don’t be long and remember – “I Love You.”

Your Friend,
God”

My challenge: Take a moment to be still and silent, say hi to your greatest friend, God, they may not have heard from you in a while.

Namaste,
Maria Elena Escobar
