Stop and Marvel at the Wonder that is YOU!

Stop and Marvel at the Wonder that is YOU!

“When you know yourself, you are empowered, when you accept yourself, you are invincible.” ~ Tina Lifford

I admit I love inspirational posts on FB, Twitter and Pinterest.  There are days I get carried away sharing stuff that is motivational or inspiring.  This is one of those posts.  I like the simplicity of the list of how to build your confidence.

Self-confidence is important; we need to have confidence to create an empowered life.  Self-esteem is actually different than self-confidence.  It is recognizing you have value and that you have deep worth, to hold yourself in high honor.  Confidence means you believe you can do things.  Esteem means you are worth loving even if you do nothing.  It is recognizing who you really are, a masterpiece.

We all came into these bodies as pure divine love, somehow the muck of our experiences in this body and what others have told us, makes us forget that.  We are amazing works of art, masterpieces.

As I am writing this I was thinking of the word masterpiece.  We were pieced together by the Master creator.  Every thread of character carefully chosen, every fiber of temperament mindfully selected.  As each feature of our body was deliberately chiseled by the Master’s hand, we were created perfectly.

Who you are is worthy of being valued and esteemed (held in high honor).  So it is great to have self-confidence but even more amazing is truly having self-esteem.  When you accept yourself and celebrate yourself then you are invincible.

My Challenge:  Write down three things about yourself that are part of who you are and not what you do that are amazing works of the master, and thank him for creating you so wonderfully.  Keep writing the list is endless.

I Promise Me to Be the Best Me Today

I Promise Me to Be the Best Me Today

I Promise to Best Me Today

The other day I read the book, The Four Agreements written by, Don Miguel Ruiz.  They are four simple principles that you commit yourself to live by, freeing you from the tyranny of ego.  He doesn’t actually use the word ego but essentially anything that causes us to make choices from fear and not love, resides in the ego. As Dr. Wayne Dyer always says, ego is an acronym for Edging God Out.  We are created to be connected to God and to live a life of love.  If you follow these agreements you will live from love and not fear.

One of the four agreements that resonated with me is be impeccable with your word.  The agreements are a contract you make with yourself.  I am committed to being in integrity, saying what I mean, honoring my commitments and choosing my words carefully.  Words are powerful, they create our experience.

This particular agreement has historically been challenging for me, especially when it comes to keeping my word to myself.  My past, including yesterday, is replete with examples of me making promises to myself or making commitments and flaking. But I am not that person, I can make different choices today.  It may be a challenge to change but challenges are what make life interesting so I am going to do what I say I am going to do, even if it hurts.

Words have power so I am going to remember to think before I speak to make sure what I am saying is beneficial and coming from a place of love.  I have this picture on my wall it has the acronym THINK, it says:

Before you Speak THINK:

T-is it True?

H– is it Helpful?

I– is it Inspiring?

N– is it Necessary?

K– is it Kind?

I don’t have to act the way I used to, even if I messed up yesterday, today is a new chance to try again!  I don’t have to be a prisoner of the past, I can be a pioneer of the future and forge new ground.

So I am sharing this with you my fellow travelers.  I am committed to making this my strength.  Below is a summary of the four agreements, which one resonates with you?  What are you willing to commit to do?

(Note: I found this on Facebook so whoever wrote it thank you.)

In case hard to read it says:

a. Speak with integrity.

b. Say only what you mean.

c. Avoid using the Word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others.

d. Use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love.

a. Nothing others do is because of you.

b. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream.

c. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

a. Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want.

b. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama.

c. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

a. Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy opposed to when you are sick.

b. Under any circumstances, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

Share what you are going to commit to; I would love to hear it.

Honoring a Great Man Today: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Honoring a Great Man Today: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’”

~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

My dream is to create a world of love and tolerance, where people make responsible choices from a place of personal power.  No one embodied, lived and died for that dream greater than the hero we honor today, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. the man with a powerful dream.

Nothing I can say will do justice to his indelible spirit and passionate purpose.  Today on Facebook and Twitter I found myself sharing countless quotes by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. what profound wisdom and statements he spoke, the eloquence of which I can only aspire.

As you go through your busy day stop and remember what a different world this would be if it were not for men such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  And ask yourself what are you doing for others?

“An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.”

~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

There is still so much work to be done.  I am humbled and challenged by the upward call and ask all of you to join me in seeing Dr. King’s dream fully realized in our generation.  Be the difference.  Do something, just move.

My tribute would not be complete without including the famous speech that still stirs the hearts, ignites the passions and motivates the masses to this day, “I Have a Dream Speech” this video may be lengthy but worth the view.

New Year: New You!

New Year: New You!

“Another fresh new year is here . . .

Another year to live!

To banish worry, doubt, and fear,

To love and laugh and give!

This bright new year is given me

To live each day with zest . . .

To daily grow and try to be

My highest and my best!

I have the opportunity

Once more to right some wrongs,

To pray for peace, to plant a tree,

And sing more joyful songs!”

~ William Arthur Ward

This time of year is a chance to start fresh and make different choices.  A chance to become who you were meant to be and create the life you were born to live.  But isn’t that true of everyday.  We celebrate New Years with resolutions of change, filled with the excitement and expectation of new beginnings.  Each moment is really an opportunity to start fresh.

My sister has a great practice.  When her day is not going well and she needs to just start over she will reset her day by taking a shower and pretending this is the beginning of her day.

So just remember if you are already breaking your resolutions and feeling discouraged.  Each moment is a fresh start.  It is a chance to be a new you.  May this be the year you live on purpose and with purpose, drinking from the cup of excellence and basking in your magnificence!

So Happy New Year and Happy New You!

My Challenge: Reset as many times as you have too, each breath is a new opportunity.

Wonderful Things Happen When You Believe

Wonderful Things Happen When You Believe

always believe

“Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.”

~ Carl Gustav Jung

When I look at this picture I think of surrender.  Her arms open waiting expectantly for her heart’s desire.  When we surrender it is not tight held fists raging against the sky, instead it is open arms waiting for our miracle to happen.

I think that is when we love God the most and when he feels it the most.  When we stop and recognize that within us is all that we need, we become empowered.  We are connected to the source of all creation and when we love and trust the Divine Love that created all things, we are free.  Love always trusts.

The greatest act of love is faith.  Stop looking at the surface temporary things and look at the eternal things within your reach, right inside of you.  When you surrender with open arms, wait expectantly for miracles to occur.

My Challenge: Find something in your life you want to get rid of and choose to surrender.  Maybe it is something that is not working and you need to let it go.  Open wide your arms (literally) and say, I surrender to a power greater than I.  Wait expectantly for your miracle.
