A Glimpse Inside the Magic that is ME!
I started this blog as part of my journey in self-discovery and personal growth. It was a way to reach out and spread the love I have to share. I believe within us is a power so magnificent that if only we touch on it we can not only change our own lives but we can be the catalyst for changing the world. More than anything I want to inspire, encourage and ignite the people I encounter to live truly empowered passionate and authentic lives. It’s my dream to see people I’m blessed to work with, open up and become who they were meant to be.
“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” ~ Maria Robinson
So let me tell you how this all started.
Ever since I was a child I felt the spirit of love and passion to help people. I’ve always wanted to ease suffering and to give others strength. I’ve always been able to see the good in others and to have faith, vision and dreams of the future for myself and those around me. I was blessed with many challenges that equipped me to accomplish the goal of leaving a lasting mark on this earth and change the world one person at a time. I’ll give you the Reader’s Digest version of the amazing adventure.
As a child my Father was my world and I was blessed to have him for 12 wonderful years. Even though he fought cancer on and off over those years, boy did we cram in life when he was well. For many years after his death life was riddled with pain and challenges that broke me down.
After a series of painful events including being raped and years of mental, physical and sexual abuse I decided that I would get so fat that no man would ever look at me like a piece of meat again. I put on over 50 pounds in the year I made that decision after barely escaping another assault. For many years I struggled with insecurity and weight issues ballooning to over 290 pounds on my petite 5 foot frame. I went through bouts of depression, suicide attempts and finally was treated for PTSD after leaving an abusive marriage which completely broke my spirit. Living with so much stress, a series of injuries, autoimmune diseases and excess weight was physically devastating. It forced me to stop and get help both mental and physical help in dealing with my challenges. It took years of hard work but I am so grateful for all the experiences that brought me to where I am now.
I graduated from college with degrees in Education and Psychology. For over 20 years I worked with diverse populations such as women from prison, mentally ill adults and at-risk youth. I strove to help them improve their lives though teaching and counseling, wanting so badly to make a difference. My own life was a train wreck but I poured myself out trying to empower others when I myself was not yet empowered.
I know from personal experience the power of forgiveness as a victor over many abuses including rape, sexual abuse and domestic abuse. I choose not to be a victim or even a survivor; I am a victor because I chose to take my life back and free myself from my abusers.
As Lisa Nicols says, “Let your mess be your message.” And “Test is only the first part of your testimony.” I believe all the challenges I’ve faced have developed in me a strength and tenacity that I otherwise would not have found. As a result of my experience I have committed to helping others who have faced or are facing similar challenges.
I’ve spent the better part of the last 117 years transforming and growing into a woman I’ve grown to respect and love. I can now say that I want to take everything I’ve learned that has turned my life completely around to change the world. Each day I work at living an inspired empowered life. I live more deliberately and consciously from my highest self and have grown to love who I am. I still have hurdles to overcome but I am more than a survivor, I am a victor. I choose not to be a victim anymore. I’ve chosen to see the blessings in the struggles. As Anthony Robbins says, “Life does not happen to you, it happens for you.”
I recently graduated from an amazing coaching program. I am pursuing my writing, public-speaking and coaching goals with all my heart. I believe it is my purpose to help those who are in pain, darkness or fear to find the light and joy through love. I have become a powerful coach and want to work with people who’ve spent their lives giving away their power. I want to teach them how to take back their power, practice extreme self-care and live lives of passion and purpose. I also want to help empower people with disabilities as someone who struggles with many serious physical challenges daily. I understand how discouraging and hopeless it can feel. But there is a way to live the life you dreamed of. I’m here to help you find your way.
I believe that we are all Spiritual beings and regardless of what name you call it, there is a Divine Love acting in us and through us. I believe we are each all connected, we are one. It is like The Divine is the sun and we are rays shooting off of it. Each one of us is here to shine and re-present God’s love in a way we alone uniquely can. No one else is exactly like you and you are a masterpiece, perfectly created for a purpose. By helping you to connect with your Divine and your highest self you can do or be whatever you dream of and more. It is part of my practice to teach you tools to live a more awakened life; you can live the life of love, peace and joy you were created for. The answers are within you and with the right questions you can learn how to discover them for yourself.
What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? What dreams lie dormant that need to be realized? I have learned the secret to being happy and content, to being truly powerful and full of life. Here is what some of my clients have to say:
“Throughout my coaching with Maria, I’ve learned many things by her approach to the work. She has taught me that the questions I ask are more important than the challenges I face. The process has allowed me to see my own patterns and coping skills more clearly and understand the simple ways I can begin to improve the quality of my life. As a result, I can no longer see myself as a helpless victim, as I begin to understand my own participation in staying stuck. Maria’s approach is not only empowering, but by finding creative solutions to challenges, I’m able to view myself and life differently.” ~Raquel Wilkins
“Working with Maria has allowed me to deepen my self-awareness and put together a plan to realize my true potential through acknowledging the areas in which I am stuck and breaking through those self-imposed roadblocks.” ~ Ursula Campbell
“Maria’s sincere and curious approach to engaging me allowed a safe and comfortable environment where I could openly share my thoughts and challenges. Her questions and approaches when discussing various topics always help me discover additional options that lead to greater feelings of confidence and clarity.” ~ Z. Moore
“I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed working with you. Being a coach myself, I am not the best person to be coached. I tend to be resistant and naturally self-reliant. You really seemed to know what questions to ask and were so non-judgmental, that I was able to make major strides. I was really looking for a bit of direction, as I was stuck, and with a few sessions I was able to get clarity and an action list of tasks that could be done to move me in the right direction. I will definitely come back for more coaching so I can keep my momentum going. Thank you for your guidance.” ~ Lia Allen
